Early 2018 Conformation Handling/Training Classes –
Our first set of Conformation Handling/Training Classes for 2018 is now set for the month of February.
These classes provide practical showing experience and will help both new and experienced handlers/dogs prepare for AKC conformation showing. Come join us as we get ready for the 2018 show season including our own exciting COUNTRY MUSIC CLUSTER coming up in March.
BUT FIRST THE RULES –
The Nashville Dog Training Club is graciously allowing our club to use their facility for the month of February. Please be mindful that we are their guests.
If you attend any of the training sessions, you are agreeing by your attendance to abide by the following rules and guidelines.
Out of respect for our facility sponsor, anyone violating these rules will be asked to immediately leave the facility.
Inclement weather: Classes will be cancelled due to inclement weather only if Davidson County schools are closed. Please check the local radio or television broadcast for school closings.
Children and guests: You are welcome to bring guests to observe training classes. You may bring children only if they are supervised by an adult, are mature enough to be gentle with puppies and not interfere with class.
Controlling your dog; other peoples’ dogs: Keep your dog close to you and under your control at all times. Keep your leash short and pay attention to your dog at all times when entering or leaving the building. Do not allow your dog to sniff or approach another dog or crated dog even if your dog is friendly. You do not know if the other dog is friendly. Do not pet or approach another dog without the owner’s permission. Please instruct all guests and children about these precautions.
Bitches in season: NDTC does not allow bitches (female dogs) in season in its training building.
Sick dogs: If your dog is ill or seems “off” in any way, leave your dog at home.
Water: To avoid transmitting disease, bring your dog’s own water bowl. Please keep all water, and any beverages you may bring for yourself, outside of the rings and in the crating area.
Shots – All dogs over 6 months of age must be current on their city/state required shots. Be prepared to show proof if necessary.
Potty your dog: Allow yourself enough time to potty your dog immediately before class to reduce the chance of an accident.
Many dogs will need to potty upon arrival in a new location even if they pottied at home just before getting in the car. The potty area is in the grass strip in front of the Club building. Keep plastic baggies in your car and on your person. Use them to pick up after your dog and deposit it in the garbage can in front of the building.
Picking up after your dog is an important part of responsible dog ownership and should be done wherever you go with your dog. If you have no baggies, NDTC has provided them in a box mounted on a metal post on the grassy area in front of the building.
If your dog damages the property, you may be asked to provide reimbursement for the damages. If your dog potties in the building, there are clean up supplies available. Ask someone to hold your dog. It is your responsibility to clean up after your dog and to dispose of the soiled materials outside the building in the garbage can in the front of the building.
Parking: Please be absolutely diligent in not parking in front of the loading docks or any of the buildings. There are after hour deliveries anyone parking in those spots may be towed. Park only in the spaces marked for parking.
